I am Dr. Tasnim Aziz, a proud 91Ö±²¥ Biology Department alum, and I'm excited to be a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Bi-Co Educational Studies Department. As an undergrad, I received the Noyce Fellowship, an NSF grant for STEM majors pursuing teaching. After graduating from BMC and earning secondary Biology and Chemistry teaching certifications, I earned a Master of Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Biology from the University of Pennsylvania while teaching in the School District of Philadelphia. I continued my own education and research to integrate environmental justice and intersectional environmentalism into science education, inspiring students to transform their communities while honoring their whole selves. I earned a Ph.D. in Science Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I eventually became a Lecturer and an Associate Director for the Advanced Certificate Program for Reimagining Education for a Racially Just Society. I now train educators and learners to design inclusive, justice-centered, and inquiry-driven educational spaces.
